The Groop and Broadtent Announce New Strategic Partnership to Create Innovative Online Content and Content Delivery Platforms

Broadtent Chief Catalyst Seth Epstein and Groop CEO Jose Caballer announced today the formation of Grok, a collaboration between both companies to produce online content and content delivery platforms.

Groop CEO Jose Caballer commented, “Seth’s (Broadtent) experience in broadcast design and live action production and my experience in interactive design and technology are a natural fit in today’s hybrid media enviorment. By combining our experiences we are magnifying the value that we can provide to networks and media properties.”

Seth Epstein, Broadtent’s Chief Catalyst noted, “The time is right for this type of collaboration. The need to create new online media brands, new types of narrative content and compelling experiences requires a close collaborations between our disciplines. It’s imperative as studios, networks and brands continue to increase their investments in online media.”

The seasoned entreprenuers met in 1999 during the dot com boom when Razorfish Inc acquired Fuel, Seth Epstein’s broadcast graphics production company. The goal was to provide both motion graphics and live action production and interactive marketing and technology services to Razorfish clients. As Creative Director of the Los Angeles office of Razorfish Jose Caballer helped oversee the integration.

“The idea was right, the timing was wrong. Video delivery technology had yet to mature and the demand for video over the internet was at a very early stage. We did do some amazing work together and now that technology has matured and consumer demand for online video and video platforms on mobile, PC and TV the time is right and we will pick up where we left off to create some amazing experiences” observed Caballer.

Grok, the collaborative partnership between Broadtent and The Groop will focus on branded films, commercials, web content, microsites, video delivery, social media and interactive TV interface development.

According to Epstein, “Grok will be run as a small experimental laboratory outside of The Groop and Broadtent. This will allow us to experiement, innovate and pursue joint ventures in a nimble and strategic manner. Needless to say I am very excited about our collaboration which is already producing amazing results.”
