Jose Caballer of THE_GROOP is Honored as an ADC Young Gun
September 15, 2004
The Los Angeles-based design collective, THE_GROOP today announced Jose Caballer, THE_GROOP's creative director and founder, was selected as one of the Art Directors Club 2004 "Young Guns," the organization's prestigious, international competition for creative young professionals in advertising, design and new media. "Since its inception in 1996, Young Guns has become a favorite show among established creatives who are looking for exceptional, cutting-edge talent and emerging artists looking for new opportunities," says Myrna Davis, ADC Executive Director.
Young Guns originated as an invitational exhibition for young professionals exclusively in New York, but following the great success of YG3, the competition and event was broadened to an international level for the first time and accepted entries from around the world for 2004's competition. No more than 100 ADC Young Guns were selected by a judging panel including co-chairs Mike Joyce of MTV and Bill Oberlander of Ogilvy & Mather. ADC Director of Marketing & Development, Jocelyn Lucas Rosenberg, is spearheading the competition and Adobe is a sponsor. Caballer will be featured, along will his fellow 2004 ADC Young Guns, in a two-month exhibition at the ADC Gallery in New York in September 2004, and a published catalog
"Not only is it a great honor to be a Young Gun this year but hopefully we're on a roll" says Caballer, "THE_GROOP just won 'Best of Show' in HOW Magazine's 5th Annual Interactive Design Competition for the Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo Lab promotional DVD, a Cyberlion at the Cannes Cyberlion Award Ceremony in June for our work on AIWA.com/aiwaworld, and 'Merit' in HOW Magazine's 12th Annual International Design Competition for the DVD packaging for the 2003 Nike Presto Asia DVD."
